Samsung has improved tablet screen resolution with its PenTile RGBW technology. The prototype is a 10.1 inches LCD screen that comes with a resolution of 2650 by 1600 pixels, with 298.9 ppp. It also allows a 40% less power consumption and a 300 cd/m2 luminance in its safe energy mode, while in its exterior mode offers a luminance of 600 cd/m2.Samsung is developing the screen along with Nouvoyance, and it will show it at the SID Display 2011. It is expected that by the end of this year, it will be ready to be used by the first device manufacturers.
According to Business Wire, Samsung expects to have commercial availability of this technology for its future tablets. The first one to incorporate it, according to rumors, would be the next Samsung Galaxy Tab.
